The alarm on my phone woke me up today so that I could get my ass off to work. Yes thats right, thanks to my student shift I work on a Saturday (or Saychurrday as my Dad says) and instead of getting up I switched off the phone to have a little snooze. Or so I thought.
Woke up approx 50 mins later, looked at the time and thought furrrk there's no way I'm going to make it in time for the train in time. The wierd part of it all was that I thought I snoozed for 10 minutes max so imagine how I felt, drained and not wanting to go.
I took my time to get ready knowing that I was going to be late regardless. I started work in 40 mins and the only way I could arrive on time is if I took the car. The car is a shitty pissy 1 litre Nissan Micra (it's the only car I'm insured on) but at this moment in time all I'm bothered is getting to work on time! If I take the car it would take a max of 25 mins to get to work so this would leave me with an extra 15 mins, yeh I'm thinking that should be OK.
Then a thought occurs - holy baloney I don't know my way to work! Fuckity fuckity fuckity fuck! How can this be, you're thinking? Well, in order to get to work I always travel by train and arrive in the town centre. From there I walk 15-20 mins to reach my destination.
I've been to Leeds with Dad quite a few times but never really payed any attention to the directions, actually I did once (when he said learn the route it may come in handy - I was like yeah yeah) but gave up half way through. I have to admit I have really shite road sense (this maybe the reason I passed driving on the 6th attempt) and Leeds being 10 miles doesnt help either. To come to think of it, I hate cars altogether. Hate driving, hate roads, hate people on the roads, hate refuelling, and if there's anything else associated with cars I hate that too!
Today I was thinking it might be best if I learnt the way to work, you never know it might come in handy.
And when I arrived to work 20 mins late no-one gave a shit, they didn't even say anything. Excellent, although I made up for it in my break. They probably knew I'm hardly ever late.

So, I'm curious why would you take a train for so long instead of driving if the time is so much shorter? I'm all about getting there the fastest way. Do you hate driving that much?
6th time? *cant help but chuckle a litte* ahem well im glad it all worked out in the end.
at first i was gonna say that of course they don't care if you are late in pakistan but then again i realized you live in england. why i keep trying to relocate you to pakistan i'll never know.
oh man, i KNOW exactly what u mean.. i have to work on weekends too and its a DRAG wakin up at friggin 5 am and trudge to work.. of course its a blessing my workplace is only 10 mins away but still.. im glad u didnt get into trouble.
Ah, after all that and they didn't care/notice? LOL
Next time dude, gimme a call and I'll use Google Earth to get you to work OK? I managed to give BBFK directions from like 3,500 miles away and found her a Wendy's to stop at to get a burger!
sobia - train & car take a similar amount of time, 20-25 mins. Everybody at home knows that driving is not for me, I get bored too easily and begin to make careless mistakes. I'm ok for small journeys.
bbcd - Yeh you chuckle away, I spent a bomb learning you know!
dawn - Is this true about them not caring about lateness in Pak? If so, I think I'll 'work' there for a bit.
shey - What time does work start for you? You get to work in 10 mins, so if you start at 9 that means you have over 3 hours to get ready?!
Lever - I will gladly take your number for future directions. If you keep this up you'll be putting the RAC to the side! Could open your business too ;-)
Couldnt stop laughing to maself, the uni days and that part time job, brought back some memories bro!
Keep it up
