Ha ha. You know the comments from my previous post (i.e. work situation) were a bit of a wake up call, especially the one from Dan. To be honest I was still thinking about his comment before I went to sleep (no shit!) and you know what … the guys’ right.

I’ve worked at this company for 1 year and 8 months and it ain’t so bad. So check it, yesterday I went to the workplace specifically to see the head manager and gave her a bs story about why I hadn’t been in for two Sundays and a Saturday (don’t worry I didn’t kill someone off, I’m not that extreme) and I was surprised to find she was cool about it. I didn’t think she would be since I hadn’t called to give them any notice at all.

Anyway she sucked the story right in (maybe she was hungry?) and was saying stuff like “we can’t help it if at times life gets in the way”. I’m like yeah rock on. I started asking her if I’d have to work back the hours, she started asking me if I had any holidays remaining. The ironic thing is I had requested half of November and December fully for holidays and they had been refused, only managed to get three days off due to the “peak period”.

She was kind enough to put the days I’d taken off as emergency holidays (which means paid for!) and then at the end she’s like “See ya Saturday”. Complete U-turn for me, I guess I just needed a bit of a break. Anyway I’ve had my fun.

I have to admit my manager being on holiday and my past record definitely helped me out, even when I walked in a few people were asking if I’m alright and a manager even said “I was concerned because you’re always here on time”.

If they don’t give you holidays when you request ‘em, take ‘em anyway. That’s what I say. Or as my mate Ozman used to say in college “lagta hu meh barah shareef …magar meh haraamio ka haraami hu”.
